I just got my Genesis Sedan and was wondering what, if any, engine break in techniques to use to get a long lasting engine. The dealership never, in the slightest bit, touched on the subject.

Did anyone have any special break in techniques?
Did you keep the Revs under a certain limit for a certain amount of miles?
Is there a maximum top speed you went before a certain amount of miles?
When did you first really open up the car - how many miles?

I keep my revs down and do as clean shifts as possible, making sure not to over rev.

I will be babying the engine for the first 5 or 6 tanks of gas then I'll probably start driving it more and more harder, IE: higher revs off launch and shift points from time to time

Don't see any reason to keep it under a certain speed either, as long as you aren't puttin the engine at WOT.

I recommend a call to your service tech.

Long story short. Just drive it. No long periods of time and a steady r.p.m. Max of 70 m.p.h. but again don't stay at one speed for more than 10-15 min. No full throttle accellerations until over 2500 mi.

Enjoy.
