Leather care

What do you folks use for leather care? I have tried a few different products and am happy with Mothers.

Genesis-guy 06-22-2010 03:56 PM

Mothers is ok. But I always used Meguiars for leather care. I have Meguiars rich leather gel at home for when I detail my car and also keep a container of Meguiars rich leather wipes whenever I have to clean my interior while away from my house.

I have always followed with Lexol products. There is a good article on leather care on thier site.

Honestly, I've never used leather care for my car. I don't think it's worth the extra money but that's just me.

Really? pay all the extra for an pimpin interior and just let it work its self out. I am all for preventitive maintinence as its cheaper to keep it up then it is to get it back up and running.

I've personally seen what years of wear and tear can do to a leather interior of a car. Your worst enemy is the sun. It dries up the leather interior then after several years you will start to see cracking. Taking care of your leather interior will prolong its life.

This is what happens after a few years of neglect. The $9 every 2-3 months that it cost to buy leather wipes far outweighs the cost of getting everything reupholstered once they start cracking.

I have always used leather wipes. They definitely help preserve the finish and minimize the wear and tear.

That's exactly what I want to avoid. Unfortunately, by the time you figure out that the product you're using isn't very good, it's too late. :(

Just had Xzilon treatment on the new 2015 Geny. Anybody have experience with it? Right now looks good as does the 5 year warrantee.

I agree that preventive maintenance is definitely worth lesser than a complete overhaul maintenance of the leather. I always keep a pack of leather wipes in the glove compartment and give them a mild wipe every now and then so as to ensure they are not in a faded state at any one time.
