Default MPG Numbers for the 4.6L Engine

What kind of MPG is everyone getting? Are you noticing it change a lot from tank to tank or changing your driving methods?

Overall are the numbers better, worse or about what you expected?

After just a month with mostly local driving and three commutes to NYC I'm seeing 14mpg on the commutes and about 17 mpg locally. I'll be taking the first road trip this weekend and will post the results. Frankly, at $2.89 per gal. its a little disappointing - but then I drive the Prius for a while and make up for it.

Are you driving your car fairly hard because it is new or would you say you would drive it the same as your Prius (IE: accelerating at lights, speeding, etc.)

I don't drive it hard (but not easy, either.) The few commute trips average 20 mph for about an hour. I'm pretty soft leaving lights (I am over 60) but I do enjoy accelerating onto highways.
haven't had it over 70 yet.

17 MPG seems low but maybe its just me. Are the 4.6 liters a pretty heavy car I imagine? Is the 15-20 MPG pretty normal for a heavy sedan

I took it on the road this weekend for the first time. V8 logs in at 4,180 lbs. Open road got pretty close to 27mpg on relatively flat terrain.

I like to hear the 27 number because I am thinking about the 3.8 sedan and since it will be lighter it should also be more fuel efficient.

Yet to monitor as I'm sure it will not be as high as I want. My other car is my wifes Toyota Prius and that is in a league of its own!

I have 8000 miles on my 2010 4.6L and I am getting better than expected. The computer mpg is very close to hand calcs. I get about 21.5 combined, 17 city and I honestly get 27 to 28 on pure highway at 72 mph with a calm wind. Best I have done is 29.5 on a 350 mile trip down the interstate. I run 87 octane.

I have run the car up to 120 mph and it had lots and lots left in it but I didn't care to go any faster on the cheap OEM tires.
