If you're in an area that gets snow, I would suggest winter tires all the way. Someone mentioned having 2 sets of tires and rims, which is a good idea. That's what I did. I put snow tires on my stock rims, and then got a set of aftermarket rims for the summer. The snow tires make a great deal of difference during those cold icy mornings - I haven't had any problems with them - they're Toyo G2 Observes.
