German Car Autobild Magazine Ranks Hyundai #1 In Quality |
|
Jul 28, 2010 - 2:42 PM - by AutoGuide.com

Hyundai edged out BMW and Audi in leading German car magazine Autobild's annual quality survey. Hyundai also beat out Toyota, long considered the benchmark for quality and reliability.
Using owner feedback, recall information and data from Germany's well known TUV technical inspection agency, the magazine's yearly report is held in high regard in Europe.
"Hyundai is always proud to receive awards for its products, particularly this one from AutoBild, which places the company ahead of brands many have considered to be at the pinnacle of the industry." said Hyundai Motor Company Marketing Director Oliver Mann.
Hyundai's first place ranking comes at a crucial point in time for the Korean automaker, as it prepares an onslaught of new compact cars for Europe and prepares to move upmarket in North America, with the $60,000 Equus sedan leading the charge.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec is Korean Automaker's Most Hard-Core Model Yet |
|
Jul 16, 2010 - 12:14 PM - by AutoGuide.com
|
At last year's SEMA Show, Hyundai unveiled a tuner-special version of the Genesis Coupe 2.0T, known as the R-Spec. Now Hyundai has decided to expand its R-Spec lineup to include the 3.8-liter model. What this means is that you'll be able to get the 306-hp version of the G Coupe with all the Track pack goodies, but without the hefty price.
Included in the 3.8 R-Spec model are gunmetal 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, a stiffer suspension, a limited slip differential and sport seats. Oh, and it's offered exclusively with a good-old six-speed manual transmission and comes complete with R-Spec badging.
In an effort to keep the cost and the weight down, the car does without items like automatic headlights, cruise control and some of the more premium options.
Pricing for the 3.8 R-Spec hasn't been released but considering the R-Spec trim on 2.0T models costs just $1,750 over the standard car, we'd expect the V6-powered R-Spec model to retail for close to $26,750.

Hyundai Planning Volkswagen CC Rival Based on iFlow Concept |
|
Jul 15, 2010 - 2:48 PM - by AutoGuide.com

Hyundai will expand its product offering in Europe with a new four-door coupe model that will rival the Volkswagen CC. According to a recent report, the vehicle will be based on the same architecture as the new 2011 Sonata (known as the i40 in Europe), but will take design inspiration from the iFlow concept that first appeared at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this year. Hyundai has already used some of the design details in the iFlow concept in its new Sonata Hybrid model.
In true Hyundai fashion, the new 4-door coupe model will undercut its German rival in terms of pricing. Hyundai also wants to offer more practicality, with more rear headroom.
Engine options for the new model would likely be the same as those found in the Sonata in Europe, including a 1.7-liter diesel motor (fingers crossed for the 274-hp 2.0T).
If the project gets the go-ahead, this new model would likely debut in 2012 and if successful there’s a strong chance it could be launched in North America.
